The Flow of Inspiration, Sentiment & Nostalgia

Well, now that my emotional obstruction has been removed, I’m falling deeper and deeper into a flow of sentiments once again. It is a feeling I’ve missed so much.

I’m listening to nano songs more. Her nanoir album is something I’ve been freaking over today. The flawless perfection of the English and Japanese lyrics, the powerful passionate singing, the rock tones and moving ballads, the catchy pop melodies, headbang rhythms, everything is just so perfect. All that I need in music. Every song has its own distinct flavor and is so good that they’re almost all have exactly equal footing.

However, mainly four songs speak alot to me. Other than the two from the last post. Each of these bring back such tremendous nostalgia. Somehow these tunes carry alot of memories. I think partly it is because these particular songs sound like combinations of old bands and songs I used to listen to, as well as her English lyric singing style includes western music I listened to as well. So you can imagine, there is a huge pool of music throughout my life that this connects to and brings together. It’s not just the specific tones, styles, arrangements but also the melodies and the lyrics. These are very familiar sounding tunes, yet made new again. It’s where the old meets the new. Where memories meet the future. There is a potent magic in these songs. As soon as you hear the soaring melodies, it entrances you. It’s extremely revitalizing and refreshing. It’s that feeling that I’ve always enjoyed in the past whenever I listen to my favourite music, and always that bliss I’m searching for.

It’s hard to explain but the best way to depict it would be to imagine a bright summer day, a huge expanse before you, like a large field, either miles of green green grass or a field of yellow flowers, which slowly slopes up as a gentle rolling hill. The sky above is vibrant blue, azure, sapphire, decorated with clouds that demonstrate a current in the air. The sky stretches on and on just like the field. There is a nice breeze around you, nothing too strong to obscure vision and tousle your hair, but strong enough that it cools you down. It is just the perfect summer day. Then as the music hits, you feel this enormous urge to take to the fields running, running, running on forever, laughing with the one you love, holding hands, like children, in completely joy and bliss. It’s that feeling compressed into one moment, that you just breathe in. As that chorus hits, that’s the feeling that swoops you up off your feet. That, plus the nostalgia of distant childhood memories and a quiet painful pang of missing something, missing someone, feeling like you’ve missed out on a part of life.

It’s these kinds of feelings that serves to be my greatest source of inspiration and motivation to create artistically. And it is such a rare commodity.
